Werner Schreib

The last artist I want to mention from the gallery trip is Werner Schreib whose works were at the Exploding Utopia exhibition at Laure Genillard Gallery. Werner used frottage, fumage, collage and pyrogravure in his works from 1966 to 1969. I love the way the smoke looks real and the patterns created by burning the paper in the second image.

Hi there, thanks for posting these. My mom knew Werner Schreib in the mid 1950s when she was living in Weisbaden, Germany. She has a lovely watercolor he gave her back then. But I’ve never seen any more of his work; so I really appreciate your posting these – they are very interesting.

    thank you
